Bought the used Leaf a few weeks ago .

One of the coolant reservoirs was low .

The documentation I downloaded said to use blue Nissan antifreeze . Bought a gallon of Valvoline™ ZEREX™ Asian Vehicle Antifreeze / Coolant .

I carefully poured some into the reservoir . I mostly was concentrating on not spilling it . Too late I noticed it was kind of pink , instead of blue !

      Help , please . Did I mess up ?

I bought a gallon of blue antifreeze at AutoZone , this afternoon .

      Thanks ,
      Wyr
      God bless

sorry have never seen blue Nissan antifreeze… uselly its ok but example pink(dex cool) and the green antifreeze will make it start to gum up if you mix them… but have never heard of blue before so I cant say… maybe someone else can say I have never heard of blue sorry thats all I can tell you

If its contained to the reservoir, remove the reservoir and wash it out. The reinstall it and add the correct
Nissan blue coolant. Its between 20-25 for a gallon at Nissan.

This is a different color than Dexcool ( which I call orange ? ) . Far as I know , only GM used Dexcool ?

Found blue Asian antifreeze at AutoZone . About $ 15 + tax .

I try not to ever buy parts at a dealership , unless it is the last resort .

            Thanks ,

              An electric car has antifreeze?

Color doesn’t matter so much, you just don’t want to mix different chemistries. The only way to really be sure is to completely drain, flush, and refill with your choice of antifreeze so you know what’s in there.

I think there are 3 coolant reservoirs on a Leaf .

1 – Apparently the electric motor is cooled with liquid coolant .

2 – Maybe the next one is for A/C or heat , or both . My leaf has electric resistance heat . Some of the newer Electric Vehicles have a heat pump .

                3 – Not sure .

I think the Chevy Spark EV has an active temperature management system for the battery . I read this is why the Chevy Spark EV has less battery problems than the Leaf . The Volt , I think , also has a thermal management system for the battery .

                Thanks ,

I think this is the stuff: Genuine Nissan Fluid 999MP-L25500P Blue Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant

That’s the OEM fluid for most Nissans these days. You have to be careful mixing coolants. I know Dexcool turns into sludge if you mix it with other kinds of fluid. Chances are you are okay, most coolants are mostly the same and just dyed different colors, but can’t say for sure. If you’re worried about it I’d just drain out your system and put the OEM stuff in there for piece of mind.
