Alright guys/gals I recently just bought a 1998 Pontiac Grand am SE. It has the 2.4 Twin Cam and there is a problem that the guy brought up when I was looking at the car. The Radiator fluid just disappears, it doesn’t go into the oil (Check it daily) so its not a head gasket also I have placed a piece of cardboard under the car to see if there would be any leaks and nothing, I am really stumped here. Have to refill the coolant fill about once ever two weeks.. any information leading to what I could do to fix the problem would be great.

I would think a good test is to pressurize the cooling system. Your either leaking
fluid and don’t know it or burning it. see if these links help.

It could be your pressure cap is weak. This will cause you to loose coolant at higher engine temperatures.

It either burns through the combustion chambers or is pushed out through expansion canister driving. Say, should you have internal exhaust leak into it. It simply champaigns out.
Also, check your floorboard. You may have heater core leak and it goes down into carpet and out through a drain plug. Car body has plenty of those.
            Dye test it.

Dye is about the best way of doing external leaks. Internal leaks – well… Have at it. let us know what you found, We all learn from that.

Once every two weeks is not a big leak. I had this going on with the spouses car. Eventually I put the pressure tester on the system and waited and waited. Finally, it came out of hiding – a pinhole leak in a hose coming off of the water pump.

While you have it pressurized, if nothing shows up, check the A/C drain. It could be the heater core weeping.

BTW, here’s a salute to the honest seller.
