Hi i was replacing my alternator and the bottom thru bolt is siezed. I have removed all things like Power Steering, cruise. But I can not for the life of me get the alternator belt off. I have loosened and even removed the adjusting bolt and loosened the nut that goes on the bottom through bolt but still I can’t get it off. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have a way to fix this?

I cant relieve the tension on the belt.

      Is it possible

I think if you remove the upper bolt as you suggest then loosen the lower one you’ll be able to move it enough to get the belt off. You may have to pry the lower mount out after you get the belt off, this is normal. After you get the old one out you will see a metal collar on the lower mount that you can hit with a hammer to knock it toward the fender a couple of mm, this will allow you to install the new alternator easier.

I’ve found that this applies to Ford Tauruses as well. The couple times I’ve r n r’d an alternater on them, I had to combine loosening the alternator and maxing the tentioner to get me the clearance to get the belt off. Putting it back on was another matter where I needed 3 hands…
