Alternator Bolt

1999 Honda Civic LX – D16Y7

Would anyone here happen to know an alternative/substitute to the alternator tensioner bolt. It’s the one that sits on top and is used to adjust the tension on the alternator belt. Honda Part number is 95701-08030-08. I will buy the honda part, but am needing something to get me by until I can get it.

Take the bolt to either a auto part store or home center to try and match something.

I would love to do that, but unfortunately the guy that worked on it before lost it, along with a lot of other things.

You can probably get miscellaneous parts like that at a salvage yard for less than the price of a cup of Starbucks.

It is probably an m10 x 1.25. Not sure of the grade though.. If I remember correctly they are flange bolts… any major hardware store will have them. If you are unsure of the exact length, just buy several sizes and return the ones that won’t work.

Looks like it is a garden variety M8 x 30 flange bolt…. (I would guess 1.25 pitch)… Should be under a buck at any hardware store..
