brake/batt. light on intermittently . .I checked ,batt. terminals and cables, Batt. cable to alternator no visible corrosion and it is tight. Serp.belt is tight and no sign of a pulley sticking or stopping . Belt has no cracks. Brake fluid is at full mark. With van not moving I would think a loose or bad connection would result in a constant trouble light on. I let the van idle for about 15 minutes before these light came on and stayed on . With the battery fully charged I hooked up my volt meter . Engine off read 12.?? volts. Started the engine .At idle it was between 13 &14 volts more 13.80’s. At this time the dummy lights come on, Brake/Battery .This time for this test the dummy lights stay on.,Now the volt meter is reading between 12 and 13 volts. I turned on all the accessories heater/a/c,radio,back &front defrosters.. At idle the volt meter keeps going down to 11 .50 back to 12.30 up and down . Idle up to 1500 r.p.m. and hold it there for about 21/2 minutes and the volt meter is never showing 14 . It is fluctuating between 13 .50 and about 11. 60 . Im pretty sure it has a internal regulator . I had 50’s car with a regulator that it would intermittently not charge because the points would stick . When I replaced that regulator everything was fine . I think I have a bad regulator . How about some more expert advise. I have not gone underneath to check ground cables at this time. Thanks.

I just performed the neg. post to alternator cover and getting a reading of .7. That tells me that there is a ground problem according to Eric’s video. He says no more than .1 or .2

I just talked to a master Mech. and he said to wait till the light stays on and it will be easier to pin it down. YES! On these things they call cars they, the factory have everything wrapped together and under different parts of the engine . I did what I could without doing a frame up restoration and could not find any lose or corroded wires,. Doesn’t mean there aren’t any but its time to let Bob the friendly neighborhood mechanic check it out with all his fancy meters when that dummy light decides to stay on . Someone may have a simular situation and they can read this to maybe come to the same conclusion ,go in the garage and cry with know one around..
