Can anyone tell me if there is a program better than All Data out there?

All Data is very good but does not cover everything. Mitchell On Demand is good but again does not cover it all. Identifix Is also helpful.
I find that you really need all three when you have a successful and busy Automotive business.
November 1, 2013 at 8:33 pm #558930I found out about Shop Key by Snap-on. It runs about $6,000 per year! Is it any better than All Data, Mitchell on Demand, or Identifix, and is it worth the price? I was told All Data runs about $2,500 per year; but I don’t know what the others run.

From what I have heard from other shops, shop Key is a scaled down version of Mitchell on demand.
For 6,000 I could have both Alldata and Mitchell on demand.
November 2, 2013 at 8:51 pm #559304As I understand it, Snap-on has went the way of most big companies. They are farming production of their products out to other companies to cut down on their overhead; then selling the product at an over priced rate, Typical capitalism. 🙁
November 21, 2013 at 12:06 am #563927I use Mitchell ProDemand, mainly because it’s the only one I can access from home. It’s pretty good. I like it because you can calculate out cost for people– parts, labor, shop equipment, etc– if you’re running your own business on the side. I do some work, and I used to get hung up with what to charge people, now I can throw it all together and print it off to show I’m not just throwing numbers up.
It also has great wiring diagrams if you do a lot of electrical work.

I use Alldata, a bit cheaper than Michell On demand, but I did have Mitchell when I ran my repair shop in town and loved the wiring diagrams.November 22, 2013 at 8:08 am #564212
I use Alldata, a bit cheaper than Michell On demand, but I did have Mitchell when I ran my repair shop in town and loved the wiring diagrams.
I used AllData all the time at school. I assume it’s AllData Pro you use? If so, do they have colored wiring diagrams and better pictures? The basic AllData is horrible with those two aspects.
Not to mention some of the torque specs were wrong. I found out the hard way. :pinch:
November 22, 2013 at 9:12 am #564219No, they are still pretty bad
November 22, 2013 at 10:02 am #564224I perfer alldata pro…..mitchel on demand is alright, but I struggle navigating it as effeciently as somedata. But mitchell has stuff somedata doesnt and somedata has stuff mitchell doesnt.
November 22, 2013 at 8:38 pm #564290AllData has basic black and white diagrams.

Really depends Sparky, they publish what the manufacture sends on many 2000 and up models I have been seeing colored wiring diagrams now, found an example

November 22, 2013 at 10:32 pm #564323I do really like AllData’s layout and vehicle selection. They don’t ask you for every little detail before you can look up stuff. ProDemand is kind of picky. I want to look up torque spec for caliper bracket bolts– they want to know the year, make, model, engine, submodel, drivetrain, VIN, number of doors, body style, license plate number, paint code, CD or cassette, interior fabric, last three owners, cigarette lighter, and if there are napkins in the center console.
