not sure if this is the right place to put this but i need the correct way to maintain my air impact wrench. I know that you have to add 3 drops of air tool oil in the air inlet everyday. What i am talking about is the little allen screw/bolt you can take out of the housing. My owners manual says to put a grease gun in it. Does anybody do this? if so what grease?

I have never heard of greasing an impact gun.
just the part of the 3 drops of tool oil.

I usually put a couple drops of oil in the fitting that connects to the air hose fitting. I’ve got an in line oiler but only 1 hose and I don’t want oil in the hose. So until I get a dedicated hose for the tools that need the oil I guess I’ll have to continue doing it that way for a while. Grease would not go well with a tool that needs oil!

ok. that is what i was wondering. i have a husky professional 1/2 inch composite impact wrench and i called husky. They told me i dont need to do anything with the allen head port but if i wanted to i could take the screw out and load it with air tool oil.

The better ones usually have a special grease fitting, and you ‘lube’ the hammer mechanism per manufacturer’s recommendations (I believe IR recommends every 40 hours). There’s a kit that’s used to do this that includes the grease and a special grease gun.
If yours has no such fittings then i wouldn’t worry about it.

I was really confused about this too. When I got my Craftsmen impact, the instructions were crazy for maintenance. I’ve never done anything more than oil the air inlet, and this thing wants a ton of stuff done just to store it for more than a couple weeks.
