First of all I do know what is wrong but at the same time I don’t know.

This is the Actuator that switches from recirculate to fresh air. The original one was always clicking. I mean constantly so of course I buy a new one. I get the new one installed and it seemed to be working fine. Well couldn’t speak any sooner. Even this new one is constantly making the clicking noise. I took the old one apart to see the inside of it and none of the gears in it were stripped which is usually the first suspect of the problem.

So this new one I was trying to figure out why it was clicking too. Anyways if I reached my hand up and put pressure on the actuator it would stop clicking. I noticed that it wasn’t snug against the air door box. I took out the old screw and it had stripped out the plastic. Found a new screw and put that in and made sure it was tight and snug. It stopped clicking.

The next morning I go to leave to the store and that darn thing starts to click again. I switched back and forth from recircualte to a fresh air mode and it still did it. I said switched it too recirculate and then waited awhile switched to a fresh air mode and it stopped.

I did some research online and found out you have to calibrate it.
I read that you remove the battery for 1-4minutes and then reconnect it. Start the car up and let it run for another 1-4 minutes without touching the climate control, shut the car off for 10 seconds but no more then 30 seconds, start the car and try the modes from recirculate to fresh air and see what happens.

Well doing that it stopped clicking it would switch from recirculate to fresh air modes without a problem. So I called it done and went to bed.

I ended up having to go to work and turned on the ignition too acc and it didn’t click. I start the car up and the dang thing starts to click again.

So a new part clicking too, the old part wasn’t even broken, this new one it tightly snug against the air door box and yet this is still a problem.

      So I’m at lost here.

Sorry about that slipped my mind. A few people know my car I’ve been doing a lot of work on it.

The car is 2003 Chevy Cavalier.

It may be an issue with the BCM or a communication problem. To make that determination you may need to take it to the dealer or find someone with a scanner capable of communicating with the BCM. This way you can see what the computer is seeing and possibly find the problem.
