      Hi All,

I ran into a problem last night as I was attempting to replace my fuel filter. The original set up (see photos below) is different from the part I bought (see photo). What would you do in this case?
      Should I:

      1) Try to obtain just the filter and reuse all the original connecting lines.
      2) Use the new part which will modify the original system
      3) Or just abort this maintenance item altogether (reconnect the original system and move on)

      Thanks, in advance.

If you can just replace the filter I would do that.

+1 I’d try and just replace the filter. However there may be some reason they gave you the extra hose. Check the hose on your vehicle to make sure it isn’t damaged or anything. If it is, you can replace it with the new one.

Good luck and keep us posted on how things turn out.

RE Current set-up: Most of the fuel line is Neoprene until the Shrader valve, which is mounted midway up a 3″ metal line. The line leading from the Shrader valve to the fuel rail is neoprene (photo). All the current lines appear to be in good shape.

I really didn’t want to modify the existing set-up because the replacement part seems to be of lesser quality (photo). So thanks for this advice.

Will order just the filter and keep you updated.
