You could have the idle problem because of your cooling system problem (air in the system) you need to pressure test the system to see if you find any external coolant leaks, you can rent one at most auto parts stores, if you find no external leaks after pumping the system up to about 15psi you
may have an internal coolant leak.
To test for internal leaks do a cylinder leak down test.
From what your saying it sounds like you may have an internal leak but we don’t guess we find out for 100% sure.
