      Hi.
First off, I’m a new member and think that this site and the videos are great!

      I need some help.
I have a 1996 Acura RL with a hard to diagnose vibration issue.
The vibration only occurs at idle and only when the car is at normal operating temperatures. It is worse when the car is in gear than when in park or neutral. As soon as you give it some gas, the vibration goes away.

      -no codes
-ignition coils and spark plugs have been replaced
      -220,000 kilometres

      Thanks for your help.

Looks like the front lower left and right mounts have cracks in them. See attached photo of left front mount under air box.
I have replaced mounts on other vehicles. Are these difficult to access? Looks like some 14mm bolts plus a much larger bolt going horizontally. Any advice would be appreciated.
          Thanks.

First, I have not replaced mounts on that exact car. I have done a couple of V6 Accords and those were not to bad as far as access in order to remove/replace. But if you have replaced other mounts before the basic steps should apply. First support the oil pan with a floor jack. Place a short section of 2×4 between the jack cup and oil pan. Hard to tell from your picture but looks like you might remove the horizontal bolt first, maybe 17mm and then the 14mm bolts. Might need to first apply some PB Blaster on the bolts. Breaker bar might be required to loosen the bolts at first. Perhaps some other Acura DIYers could provide more detailed advice. One more thing, there is probably a vacuum line on each mount. Be sure to remove that before you try to remove the mount and replace line during reinstall.

Mounts can cause a vibration, you would probably also fill a little thud when you put the car in gear. If not, you may do a compression test. You could have a carboned up valve not seating full causing a miss at idle.

the rear tranny mounts break on those all the time. I would be more suspect of that one than the cracked front ones.

Get under there and look up at the rear of the trans, use a pry bar and pry side to side on the trans against the body, there should be very little movement.

                Whens your last tune up?

                  good suggestion re mounts.
Are they difficult to replace? I have replaced mounts before but not on an Acura.
surprised to see that they are $197 each! Are aftermarket mounts ok?
