      Good evening/morning!,
I just bought an Acura tl 1999 and it has a bad oil leak. I drove it about 40 miles after topping of the oil and it started blinking the oil light. I’m going to replace all the gaskets o rings on the oil pump but I’m afraid the pump itself may be bad. My question is do they go bad often? Will getting all the gaskets new probably fix the problem? Thank you for fast replies 🙂

Usually the pump does not go bad but the Oring seal in back leaks.

Repair the leak and check the oil pressure to determine if there is an issue to begin with. Replace what’s leaking and any targets of opportunity along the way.

            Good evening,

Sorry for the late reply but yes this is what I have been reading in many places. I know there is supposed to be a certain gap between the teeth of the pump gears themselves. I think to avoid having to do a job twice, I’m just going to go with the new pump with timing belt and water pump as well since I am already there. The car is over 300,000 miles and new stuff would not hurt it. Never over heated or anything so I am glad for that but still want to keep it tip top for a while

            Thank you for your help,
            Chris
