I recently did a compression test on my 1998 Acura Integra, which turned out well. I got in and the CEL was on I checked it with My code reader I got p0700, p1753, p0753, p0758, p1794, p1786. They are about the transmission, but the car runs fine. I reset the codes drove it for about 250 miles. No Problems, or CEL’s. Wanted to check compression check It gave me the same codes. I haven’t had a chance to drive it that far yet but was wondering what could be wrong. The car is in great shape for a 1998 Acura Integra 4 door LS. My only complaint is that it is a little dirty inside.

Yes, the correct fluid and level is very very important.

I only want to add that the ONLY correct fluid for a Honda automatic is Honda brand fluid that you will probably need to get from the dealer. Honda automatics are VERY picky about what you put in them.

You have three different codes p1753,p1794,p1786 all say auto trans axle
            po753 shift solenoid A electrical po7058 shift solenoid B
            po700 auto trans control system

First do you have fluid in the transmission? Is it the correct fluid? second I would take this to a qualified transmission shop or the dealer.
At least get an evaluation done. An automatic transmission is complicated. C8-)Maybe Eric can shed more light on the subject.

Uhm, what specs do you mean? Capacities should be in your owners manual, and the fluid type the dealer can provide you.

3 quarts for the transmission (just dropping the pan and changing the filter) and the power steering takes a little under 1 quart.
The fluid type: use honda’s brand power steering fluid (the power steering fluid is actually trans fluid if i remember right) and transmission fluid.
Also remember to check your transmission fluid with the car hot and the engine OFF on level ground.

Thanks guys, I am going to change both since they are both extremely dirty. I just brought the car. Who knows when they were changed last if ever.

Yes those are transmission codes and that’s not a good sign. As suggested you need to make sure you use Honda fluid and that it is at the proper level, in fact I cover the process in this video.

                        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7_RsnD8hAU

You might do a good visual inspection on the wiring and connectors and even change the fluid as suggested but in the end you may need to replace that transmission as Honda transmissions don’t often set that many codes just because of fluid issues.

Lastly the more Honda parts you use the better especially when it comes to tune up items, they really do make a difference.

would it be normal for it to run normally and not throw any codes except for when I do the compression test? I put many of miles on it without any codes until I did the compression test. I reset the codes after the last compression test and still no codes.

If the fluid looks bad then i would service the transmission and then if it is running normal then i would just drive it and see what happens if the transmission starts

acting up then it is time for an overhaul on the transmission or a new transmission

That is what I am going to do. I’m going to change the fluid this weekend.

How do you change the power steering fluid? I want to do this also. How any bottles should I buy of honda power steering fluid? I know I need 3 quarts of transmission fluid.

I would focus on the transmission problem first instead of wasting money on flushing your power steering system if indeed you do in fact have transmission issues.

I’ve driven it around 300 miles without any codes. Like I said the only time I get the codes is right after a compression check. It does have the CEL lit and my scanner doesn’t show any codes. I am planning on changing the fluid this weekend.
