i’ve been replacing timing belt as per Eric’s video and have gotten to the point where i’ve installed the belt and cover. When i checked the timing marks they were off. i turned the crankcase several (more like a 100) times and this was as close as i could get the timing marks to the correct position (see photos). Does anyone know what i did wrong? or are they okay?
      Thanks for any advice.

took everything apart, realigned marks and ordered the honda crankshaft tool. while waiting for the delivery, i put the valve cover and misread the torque specs and sheared the bolts off i know that they need to be re-tapped, but if the re-tap doesn’t work, can i buy bolts with a larger diameter?

Thanks for any help, cause i need it.

I did a civic last year or so, and I was off a little like that as well. I believe I was off a tooth, and I set back my cam shaft back 3 teeth and then routed my belt on. By the end of it, with the tension set I was pretty close. It wasnt 100% spot on, but from what I know, if your belt is tight in the front (meaning the direction of rotation doesnt slack) then your good.
              Could be 100% wrong though.

I can see that you’re off at least a tooth. You’ll need to remove the belt from the cam, set the crank into position, set the cam into position, and reinstall the belt as shown in the video. Then reset the tension. As for the bolts those are special bolts that only come in one size. Be VERY careful when installing them as you don’t want to cross-thread them.
