She’s an 03 Accord Coupe 4L5MT with 210 000 km. I think when I took possession of this car in 2003 the parking brake needed about 10 or so clicks to apply firmly. The spec seems to be 6 to 9 clicks. These days I’m at about 12 clicks, so I undertook the adjustment.
Access requires removing those confounding center console panels, but I persevered.
The balance arm swivels a bit to put equal pull on each brake cable. I was surprised that my balance arm was so “tilted”. Usually, Honda sets things up a bit more precise than this. (The brake ends of the cables are both properly seated in the little levers at the calipers.)
The adjustment went well and I’m at about 7 clicks with no rear brake drag at either wheel.
I’ve attached two pictures of the balance arm, one with the brake applied and the other with the brake relaxed.
What do you guys think? Is this amount of balance arm tilt more than usual, or is it close to typical?
Much thanks………..
