Hello, I’m trying to solve an issue that my mom’s car has been undergoing for the past few months. The problem is, if I leave the HVAC on Auto for the “Lo” setting for maximum cooling power, the vents wont budge from the windshield defrost vent. This is annoying because the car won’t cool down nearly as fast as it used to when it blew ice cold air through the “face” vents (I have the exact same car and it blows through the “face” vents when I crank it to “Lo” on the auto setting, same on our Odyssey as well). The car used to blow through the “face” vents, as well as all the other vents (feet, face, both simotantously, and the windshield) with no problem. But now it’s just stuck on windshield, no matter which mode I select. I have visually checked the operation of the servo motor in operation, by pressing the “mode” button while looking at the servo move it’s levers. It was moving without issue and didn’t sound like it was binding at any time. Could this still be my issue though? I can’t think of anything else in the HVAC system that would restrict air flow to all other vents except the windshield. The cabin air filter is clean, and I even took it out and tested it sans air filter, to no avail. What could the problem be? I boggles my mind!

The blend door actuator can have a broken plastic gear, would make a clicking sound in most cases. Also, the blend door can have a broken hinge. That last one is common on ford excursions.
