Ac clutch will not kick on without jumping. Changed the pressure cooling fan switch the low pressure switch to the drier and the high pressure switch. The relays look good and I have one hot and three grounds where the relay plugs in. One ground is very weak looking with the tester while the other two light up bright green. The compressor will not engage unless it’s jumped here by pins 30 and 87, when jumped it kicks in and everything runs fine. Please tell me what the problem can be! We are at our wits end trying to figure this out!
      Thanks for your time!

first off have you check what the pressure is on the high and low sides??
if you dont have enough pressure or to much pressure it will not kick on… I would fist start at that… then look at the pressure switches…. but you fist have to check the pressure .. you can check fuses and see if any are bad bothe in the cab and in the engine area….
but with ut the pressure gauge you can be jumping all over the place…. you can pick one up cheap from harber frieght or if your lucky you might be able to find a place that will rent one to you or ask your firends if they have one

The pressure (checked with the proper gauges) is 60/300 with the compressor jumped on and it blows cold air into the van
The pressure with the compressor off is 90/190…the compressor will not kick on by itself it has to be jumped. When jumped everything works properly. When you plug the relay back in NOTHING? So confused!
Thank you for your prompt reply!

When you apply a charge to the relay can you hear it click?

Explain what you mean by applying a charge to the relay? Hubby not home I’m not that good lol

A relay is a switch with two inputs and two outputs, when a charge is applied to the input terminals it activates this switch to allow energy to pass through.
It will make an audible click

57 minutes in he’ll be testing a relay and explaining it.
Watch at least to 12:31 he takes it to a white board and uses pictures to explain the circuit.

We have done all that. The relay when jumped across 30-87 like it said to do makes the compressor and clutch kick in. When the relay is plugged back in nothing….so what does that mean? We exchanged the fuel pump relay with the air relay and the fuel pump relay is good they will both run the fuel pump too. Thinking there is a faulty ground somewhere?

Could be, you can take your test light and connect it to battery positive and then check your grounds.
This should complete the circuit and the test light should light.

Make sure to test the test light on a known good ground before doing the test.

If not I’d start leaning away from that and start looking at the pressure switch

we have replaced the high pressure switch the low pressure switch that comes off the drier and the pressure switch for the cooling fan

do you get any fail codes poping up does your light blink… I saw some of them have fail code that will tell you what is cusing it and what to check
I also need to know what engine you have to look it up correctly
also when you turn the heat on does it work… does the fan spin and when you change the modes does it change like defrost then feet does it change
