        if you want to play it totally safe have a shop pull the oil out and refill with correct amount. other wise you could “guess” how much is in there and just add the 4oz and hope all is well.

          If you have a FSM, it should list how much oil should be added per part replaced, if that makes sense.

              I am pretty sure the o rings on the expansion valve is the issue. Since a new valve is only 10 dollars I might as well buy a new one that is clean. The evaporator is leaking (not at the connections). It was another cheap part

                  +1 on having the shop do the charging for you as that has the best chances of success.

                      there should be a sticker somewhere under the hood stating the amount it takes to fill it. this also makes me wonder what they did with the oil amounts. i don’t like saying it but it does sound like they don’t know A/C very well. even me never going to sc

                              i am lucky to know a good guy that i just take A/C stuff to. i work on everything els but i leve A/C out till i can buy the best tool for it. witch will be awhile lol heck i just call him tell him the car and he knows right away what it takes to fill it f

                                Your theory about an overfill sounds good, but this could equally be a drop in freon because of an ongoing leak. If the main problem was an overcharge, I would expect that to be obvious right away. You seem to be intelligent and interested in doing things
