I thought this was a topic we could all share in. Vent a little even, if needed! I’ll start with mine. I’ve been working under my SM for over two years now. He still screws up my last name when introducing me to customers. Last week he didn’t even get my FIRST name right a few times. He was a tech for nearly 20 years before getting his current position but somehow he cant remember ANYTHING from when he turned wrenches. In our shop, he is generally responsible for giving customers quotes and opening up work orders, as well as managing 8 of us. The most annoying thing he does it make us techs look up parts (we order our own parts anyway) and give HIM quotes to give to customers, and then chew us out for putting too much time on a work order. He also asks us for estimates on time…. WTF! The icing on the cake is I’ve caught him looking at tool websites or event dozing off in his office when I walk by. So I’m supposed to do my job AND his AND get the job done on time? Come on now… He has also threatened my job when I did not stay on a Friday afternoon for overtime (1.5 hrs), when we were not that busy.
The only saving grace is that our even bigger arsehole of a GM passed away unexpectedly and his replacement is a great guy. Hoping (good) change is in the cards.
