I had a bad feeling about working on this car. do to the heat the v12 puts out every thing is braking. so this is how it brakes down. remove battery ground, evac a/c system, I like to start from the top of the car, so remove all coolant lines, a/c lines, power steering cooling lines and abc line, remove engine wiring harness from ecu, remove brake booster line, fuel line, heater core hose. ok now it time to take off the front wheels, remove front brake calipers, remove steering knuckle from upper control arm, now for under the car. remove exhaust system, remove steering shaft, remove oil cooler lines, remove engine with transmission from under car froth the front axel.
now to replace turbo cooler lines and oil lines. remove heat exchangers at each cyl bank, remove coils, remove a lot of heat shielding. now to replace the lines, they are a pain in the ass they are wrapped around every thing. to do this it took about 5hr nontime to replace all the lines. now to remove transmission to replace the rear engine cover and seal. reinstall engine with transmission
reconnect all lines (life support) and top off every think so I started the car and every thing is going good so I go on the test drive down the pacific cost highway and test every think out a/c blowing cold, engine temp is good, trans is shifting good. all was good till I turned the heater it started to blow hot and then started to cool down till no heat was coming out. go back to the shop and hooked up the lab top found a code in aac for heater temp to low. i checked all the things i could have done wrong to cause this to happen. what i found is that the coolant take holds a sack of stuff that keeps the coolant good for 150,000 miles or 15 years. the stuff clogged the heater core. so now next week i have to pull the dash to replace the heater core.
i was so mad about all this i went home played with the bulldogs and had one to many beers. the next day i was talking to the Forman and told him what wad happing and all he did was laugh and seat you just got v12 real good. he seat every think on them brake or leak do to the heat.
i have about 2 1/2 days in it. i am hope i get about 24hr for the engine work and i think the heater core pays about 8 to 10 hr.
