The voltage your cars battery should be at, when you first come out to it in the morning. What should that be? * and why?

resting voltage should be around 12.6 V give or take .2 for a good fully charged battery

voltage should not drop during starting below 9.6V with a fully charged battery

voltage should also be about 13.5 to 14.5 with engine running, if the values exceed or are less than that you may be having alternator or alternator regulator issues.

A 100% state of charge battery, in new health, fully charged, should rest about 12.8 (no loads at all, Nissan spec) If you come out and it’s below 12.6 you have a problem. Doesn’t mean the battery, but there is an issue. Below 12.4 the state of health is poor. If a battery has been discharged so that with no loads it only settles 11.9 or lower, the battery is bad. You might manage to get it to work, but it will never be 100% again.
