A/C weird sound

Hello everyone. I have a 2006 kia rio with manual tranny. Recently my A/C is making a very loud squirt or hiss sound (like the sound of huge truck’s air brakes). Only intermittent not continuous. It happens after i engage the AC but disappears after a while. Also, in few occasions the AC shuts off but will operate again if i turn it on. Besides that, the AC is giving cool air and will work at full setting. The belt was replaced between 2 to 3 years ago along with the steering and alternator belt. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

sounds like the AC cluch… check the cluch and see if it has rubber boots on it…those could be bad….

it wont upload…im getting error message. its a word documnet. i cant make it load…it is not an actual picture, just a diagram from manual. Im also looking at exploaded view of the compressor, no boot.

i dont notice any presence or ruber boot in my compressor clutch.

some do have them some dont,,,, they will be on it like where the bolts are…. the diagram might not show it… you will visually have to check it… the are basically rubber boshings that help vibation noises and are comman to go bad…. basiclly its up to that mfg how they one to solve it… so one mfg will use it and another one will do something else even in the same part for the same car… thats why you will have to visualize check it if they are bad or not
its basiclly those rubber like boots holding on the cluch baslly those 3 boots on the 3 cornors of the trangle

next I would take the belt off and try spinning it by hand and puch the cluch in by hand and see if you feel anything wierd like your pressing aginst sand paper or wabling

Thanks for responding so quickly Rob. My pulley have one single bolt in the middle. So i guess there is no rubber boot. I will try the other test this weekend. To engage the clutch manually is to ground the the fuse, right?

if you dont mind, google my 2006 kia rio compressor so u can see what it looks like

                    Thanks again

I switch the AC comp relay to horn relay. I can still hear the weird sound but it doesnt shut off anymore.

Do you have a youtube account? If so, try to record the noise and post it on there so we can hear it.
