I have a 2003 Buick Century. When the A/C is on it will blow hot air until you slid the temp control up and down from cold to hot a couple of times, then it will blow ice cold air. Is the Actuator bad?

Its really a hit or miss. Sometimes when you turn it on it will start out blowing cold, then start blowing warm or hot. You have to slide the Temp control switch up and down a couple of times to get it to start blowing cold again. Sometimes it will start out blowing warm or hot, and you have to slide the controls up and down to get it to blow cold.

I agree. Make sure the compressor clutch is engaged when it’s blowing hot. If it is, then you likely have a problem with the blend doors in the HVAC system. If it’s not engaged, then you likely have a problem with the AC system. This could also be an issue with the head unit that contains your temp control. If the control head is not sending a signal to turn on the AC the AC will not come on. The fact that moving the temp slider seems to help might point you in that direction.
