A/C Dodge Durango 4.7 2005

Hi everyone.

I have a 2005 Durango that i have trouble whit the ac. The main problem is that the compressor wont kick in when i press the ac button. I have checked the fuse, relay, sensors and wiring to the compressor. When i turn the compressor wheel it goes around ok.

So now i dont know what to check next :S

Any ideas about this issue?

You will need to check if the system has refrigerant in it with
a set of manifold gauges.

You can use one of the cheap gauges that come with R134A from your local parts store. If the system does not have the correct pressure in it the pump will not cycle to prevent damage. This can happen if the pressure is too high or too low so simply shooting more R134A into the system assuming that it is low may actually make the problem worse. A/C systems do not consume refrigerant so if the system is low there is a leak. The O-rings that seal the system generally last for quite a while but they will eventually start leaking and will keep getting worse until they are changed. I would recommend that you take it to a certified A/C garage to have this done though. The R134A should be reclaimed and the system should be vacuum tested before recharging to ensure the repair is complete. Hope this helps.

For the compressor to engage. Your low side pressure needs to be 25-30 psi
otherwise the low pressure switch will hold the compressor off. so the compressor
does not burn up.

Do you know where the valve for low pressure side and the high pressure side is on this car? I have found two valves but they are not marked low / high.

Now i got an ide (i think :dry: )

If i measure the pressure switch whit my multimeter (ohm), then i can see what the pressure is on the high side. But i have now ide what the ohm should be in psi :huh:

Is there any list that show this?

The larger line is the low side. the smaller line is
high side. You can’t read refrigerant pressures with
ohms.Only a refrigerant manifold.
