      Hello all,

How hard is it to do an engine swap on a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500? I had been told it was very hard because you had to completely remove the front clip. Is this true?

No need to remove the front clip.

Ram owner here. no need to pull the front clip. with the radiator out there is plenty of room. using an engine leveler with the cherry picker makes the job easier. due to the cab forward design getting to the upper bell housing bolts is tricky. a 40″ long extension and impact swivel socket makes it easier from underneath. another trick to get to those upper bolts is to raise the motor , remove the motor mounts and then let the motor settle lower in the engine bay. this will give you access from above. let me know what motor you are dealing with.

As shown in the video I don’t think you need to remove the front clip, just the radiator and core support. Good luck.
