Hey guys.
I’m trying to get the keyless entry pad working on a ’99 taurus.
I hooked up the scanner and got a 4 digit factory code (4885) but, the book says it needs a 5 digit code. The 4digit does not work.
Do you guys have any ideas?
Thanks. -

I did a little research and found out where I can find the code under the dash.
Still don’t know why the scanner only showed a 4 digit code though.May 15, 2012 at 11:00 am #442620the last digit if im not mistaken is the command like 9 is unlock i think so your code would be 1234 then 9 to unlock di you program that pad? you have to do that to if you havnt its real easy BUT you need all the remotes and the keypad to do it all you do is cycle the key to the run position you will need to end in the run position until you hear the locks lock and unlock back to back then you take each remote and hit the lock button on each of them when you have done all the remotes turn the key off and you done i hope i explained this ok im a mechanic not a writer sorry
May 16, 2012 at 11:00 am #442621I’ve never performed that procedure on a Ford so I’m afraid I’m useless here but I’d love to know what the solution is and I think the above post might be a good start.

So what your saying is my code with 9 at the end making it a five digit number should unlock the doors correct? I don’t care about making a new different code or anything the customer just wants to be able to unlock the car with their keypad. Thanks

It’s always the little things that bug me to death.May 24, 2012 at 11:00 am #442627The keyless entry system on a 1999 Taurus is controlled by the RAP (remote anti-theft personality) module. This module is located under the instrument panel to the left of the brake pedal. There are connectors that connect to it. On the module will be a label with the part number SIMILAR to XF1T-15K602-A1A. Beside the part number will be FIVE numbers. Those five numbers are the five digit keypad code. Note: On ALL Ford products equipped with the keyless entry keypad, pressing the 7/8 and 9/0 keys simultaneously will lock ALL doors.

I pulled the RAP down awhile back and did not see any label.
Where at on the module is it normally located?
Thanks I appreciate all your help.May 26, 2012 at 11:00 am #442629does the customer have the owners manual? the manual lists two locations
for the factory 5 digit code. one the card that came with the owners manual.
two- taped to the module. The module location is underneath the drivers side
dash to the left of the steering column. check the label on the plastic cover for
factory 5 digit code.http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t31121_ds500512

May 26, 2012 at 11:00 am #442630I guess I’ll pull the RAP back out when I get a chance.
She does not have the owners wallet card that came with the car.
I’m sure I’ll figure it out at some point.
Ford really should have put it somewhere that is easier to find, like on the back side of the glove box or something.
Thanks again to all.T)May 27, 2012 at 11:00 am #442631keep us postedC8-)
May 27, 2012 at 11:00 am #442632Indeed, keep us posted.
May 27, 2012 at 11:00 am #442633Ok.. i took the RAP completely out.
I found the “SIMILAR to XF1T-15K602-A1A” part number and the only other number on the sticker was 7digits.
I looked everywhere on the module and everywhere in that general area under the dash and still found nothing.
I guess this is the only Ford that does not have it. S:-o
There is nothing more I can do about it I guess.
Still wonder why it came up on my scanner as only a 4 digit number. that would have been too easy right…. -
