I just recently watched your video on replacing a drain plug in an aluminum oil pan. Great video! Will this work in a steel pan as well in the subject-line vehicle?

Steel is harder then aluminum and so you might use many time the air gun to expend the hole and the trends. But fairly, It’s will work.

But I think if you have a MIG weld machine, you can weld the hole like a bushing weld after cleaning the oil on the trends. Bushing weld is to fill a hole whit metal. Then you drill the metal you put in this hole and make new trends whit a fillet drill bite.

No, I’m afraid it wouldn’t. You can either replace the pan or perhaps weld a nut to the outside. You need to be careful however if you plan to weld. The fumes in the crank case are flammable and sometimes explosive. The best thing to do is to pump CO2 into the oil pan before you weld if you go that rout.

            I was not enough precise.

Eric is right, if you weld the pan on the car. The residual oil remain in it.

But is you pull out the pan and you clean all the pan, no worry about possible short on you system whit toxic fume and explosion.
