Lately my jeep has had trouble starting when its been cold, even in the middle of the day when its hot out, it usually only did it during the winter when its below zero out, but now I have to turn the key for about 5 seconds before it will start, and I can smell gas after it starts too. But after I let it run for about 10 seconds then let it sit for a while the problem goes away  It has always just started right up, it has a new cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires.

Has the fuel filter been changed? A plugged fuel filter or tired fuel pump could cause your issue as well as a faulty or inaccurate coolant or intake air temp sensor. The computer uses those inputs to calculate the amount of fuel required to start the engine.

A weak battery or a starter that draws too many amps could also be the problem.

A fuel pressure gauge and a scan tool that reads data would possibly help with a diagnosis.

So are you experiencing a longer than usual crank time?

Try cycling the key several times to the on position before starting. If it starts right up, you may have a fuel pressure issue such as a bad check valve in the fuel pump.

            Keep us posted.

The long crank time makes it sound like fuel pressure is leaking down. Also, the fuel smell after its running would make me believe theres too much fuel in the cylinders. Everything here points to the injectors leaking internally.
