      Hey guys,
I’ve got a ’99 Grand Cherokee 4.0L that is having some issues. The car starts and idles, but when letting off the gas it stalls out. I’m getting TPS codes P0121 and P0123. When checking the TPS sensor there is a 5v reference voltage and the voltage on the signal wire reads over 3v at idle.

Does the 3v at idle on the signal wire confirm I’ve got a bad TPS sensor or is there further testing I should do? Appreciate the help!

There is a similar post earlier with a Cherokee. The guy ended up replacing the sensor, and hasn’t said if all is good or not. But your wires are all good (no cracks) and terminals are on the sensor and harness?

The TPS is probably the #1 electrical problem with early 4.0 WJs (99-04 Grand Cherokee). I spent a bunch of time screwing around with wiring and connectors and in the end, I think it was just because I bought a 2nd-rate replacement part when I got my TPS codes. I would highly recommend you replace the TPS with a genuine Mopar sensor.

Awesome! Thanks for keeping us updated. Also, well done on not just replacing the part and doing some basic diagnostics first.
