      99 civic ex b16y7 auto 115k miles
My long term fuel trim goes from 4.5 up to around 6 during highway driving.

      I’ve done the following:

-bottle of Techron through the gas tank
-Fuel pressure is ~42PSI at idle with regulator hose pinched, 30 with regulator on at idle, 36 on highway under load.
-checked for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner
-checked 02 sensor output on an ultragauge; I know this isn’t the best way to do it, but I did notice it hit both low and high numbers at about the same rate
      -TPS output makes sense
-Coolant temp seems a bit low; it likes to hang around 163 during normal driving and will get up to 180 under load.
-MAP sensor output matches barometric pressure key on engine off
-I don’t see and black spots or see exhaust from on the manifold

There is an evap leak somewhere, however I’ve clamped off the purge hose and nothing changes. Help would be hugely appreciated.

          Your fuel trim is fine.
+ or – 10% is ok, anything less is better.

            +1

However, what temperature thermostat are you using?

Also, any CEL’s? I think you would’ve mentioned it, but I just wanted to be sure. And what do you mean by evap leak? If the purge hose is leaking, it could create a vacuum leak. Or do you mean you pinched the hose past the leak?

It throws the p1457. That’s the only code I pinched the hose going from the purge valve to the throttle body, and have checked that area for leaks with carb cleaner. The vent shut valve doesn’t close with key on engine off, so I’m guessing there’s an issue there. I still need to probe the electical connections, but haven’t gotten around to that yet. :] I’m using the OE thermostat. I’m probably due for a new one.

Anyway I’m glad to hear the fuel trim is fine.

A quick search on your EVAP code led me to this –

                  http://www.hondaaccordforum.com/forum/d … 9-a-27179/

The best way to check these types of emission codes is with a smoke machine and a bi-directional scan tool.

Good luck and keep us posted.

+1 the fuel trims look fine to me too. As for the evap code I would check the canister vent solenoid to see if it’s working properly, they tend to go bad from time to time on those models, the link dreamer posted goes over how to check it.

                    BTW nice

Which ECU are you running? Did you chip it and rewrite your map tables? Street tune it yet?
