My dad passed away 2 years ago leaving his 99 c3500. I own an 89 c1500. Both have a 350, his is a vortec. The motor in his truck is about shot, sounds like a diesel when you first start it up. My mom pawned the title to the truck to pay some bills and I have the opportunity to take over payments and keep the truck. I’m a big guy and have a lot more room in the crew cab than in my regular cab truck.
I know the top end of his motor was rebuilt not long before he passed. Will there be any problems in swapping the motor out of my 89 into the 99? Is everything the same besides the heads/intake? Basically I want to use my motor as the long block and swap everything over. Will it work or are there differences in the blocks that I’m going to run into?
Just trying to determine if it’s worth paying the $1200 to get the truck back then fix all the small things wrong with the truck. I know it needs brakes all the way around, and the hydroboost is leaking. Other than that everything seems to be fine on the truck.
Also looking at the auto parts websites, advance etc., I can’t seem to find hydroboost for this truck. Pretty sure last time I looked it had hydroboost. I’ll look again when I get home in the morning to be sure.
