I hooked up my scan tool to try and find an ABS code and it doesn’t want to communicate. My scan tool has the latest update and is connected properly because i can retrieve OBDII codes but not ABS codes. I checked all fuses and ABS connections and they seem to be good but the scan tool keeps saying “this vehicle does not support ABS Communication. The strange thing is that the manual for the scan tool says that this model and year car supports ABS communication. Please help if you have any ideas?

It’s possible that the scanner software is older than the instructions. I would do some checking to see if there is updated software for your scan tool.

As pointed out it could be your scan tool. I suppose it could also be that your ABS is not communicating. Just in case, you might want to check all the fuses, especially the ABS fuses to make sure that’s not the case.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Yeah I did check all the ABS fuses and they seem to be fine. It does seem likely that a connection problem is the cause because when the ABS light doesn’t stay on it does take a couple more seconds for it to finally go out. Could it be possible that the ABS module is just worn out, and how can you check it? Thanks for the help.

When you turn the key and start the car it is normal for the abs light to stay on for a few seconds its a self check and the problem you are having sounds like it is on the scan tool side
