I am completely lost. I have a 98 S10 with 98,000 miles on it. Initially, when I would turn the car off the starter kept engaging. It actually caught on fire. I replaced that. Then it did it again with the new starter so I replaced it again and got a new ignition switch. The 40 amp Ignition fuse was blown so I replaced that too. Now I cant get it to start. I have power going to starter, checked the fuses, etc. The lights and radio turn on. There is no click when I try to start it and the lights dont dim at all. Also, the radio will not turn off even when I open the door. Also when I press the brakes the turn signal lights come on on the dash. I’m lost. Can anyone help me please?

Okay…. do I put everything on the steering column back together and started it just to see what happens and the brake and parking lights work fine. No idea why or what I did. The only thing that happens now is when the radio turns on, the headlights turn off and vice versa. I pulled the radio fuse and everything seems fine for now. I’m just really confused with all the electrical issues what’s really causing it all and why is everything okay now besides the radio?

Did your radio stay on when you trun off the ignition key? I have seen strange issues caused by a GM radio. Primarily parasitic drains on the battery. Was the radio working properly before you had trouble?

It turned off when I turned the car off. I used the multimeter to check for a short from the battery. It read 0.58 then when I pulled the radio fuse it read a 0.08.
