with barneyb on this one, if your fuel pump is starving of pressure usually what happens as a result is the car dies when throttle is applied because the fuel pump cant keep up with the engine drawing fuel in.
any engine light? i would suggest checking for codes see if that can narrow things down… there may be a code for something like a vacuum leak or a IAC as barneyb is suggesting..

I would give the throttle body, throttle plate and IAC a good cleaning with throttle body cleaner. Make sure the coolant level is full also.

Had the Eclipse checked out and apparently the O2 sensor was so bad it was causing my symptoms. Havent gotten the car back yet but when i do ill let u guys know how it goes. Ill also clean the throttle and idle control valve. Thank you guys for the responses. 🙂

My Eclipse starts ok in the morning, but the next time i try to start the car , it has trouble and i have to give it gas?
Have you checked for vacuum leaks as suggested? That’s a good place to start in my opinion. A video on how to do that along with additional information can be found here.

I put on a new fuel filter and it starts right up and idles good. But it seems to act up when the car sits for 10-15 minutes.
It had a coolant leak and I did a gasket test and there was carbon in the coolant. The car would also overheat real easy.
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you’re going to have fun fixing it though and that’s the important thing. That’s what staying dirty is all about.
