I dont have a high idle issue….it idles fine then it starts sucking air through the throttle body so bad it stalls the engine out…it also trys to stall out while driving it as well as burns the fuel real rich…if it starts doin it while driving it you can mash the throttle to the floor an its like it goes dead then all of a sudden will back fire a little then goes on

Sorry..I misunderstood. I think what’s happening is the engine is shutting down causing the IAC to open. It senses the engine is running too slow and opens the IAC to compensate. It’s possible you have a fuel pressure issue that’s causing all of your problems. This would explain the backfire.

So the first thing to do is perform a fuel pressure test. You may need to borrow, rent or buy a gauge to do this. I can’t remember but your truck should have an external fuel filter that could be partially plugged.

I wish it had an external…the 97’s is in the tank..an there is no Schrader valve on the fuel rail…so I guess il have to improvise

I have no testing port “Schrader valve” on either the left or right side fuel rails…in the picture I have posted I have indicated the tube that connects the left side fuel rail to the right side…do I need to insert a “T” in this line to conduct a fuel pressure test? Any instruction on this would be much appreciated

Here are a few more things I would like you to check :

Make sure the throttle plate closes all the way. no linkage binding and no gunk build up inside the throttle body.

With the air cleaner assembly off open the throttle plate all the way and using a good strong flashlight look down into the intake. see if the lower part of the intake has a lot of oil in. ( does the truck burn oil ? )

Inspect the plugs , see if # 8 plug has more build up then the others. does your truck have a cat ? if so remove the o2 sensor ( the one before the cat ) and take it for a drive. yes it will be louder and will turn on the cel. let me know if it runs better with the o2 sensor removed. do you have a hard start condition ? what I mean is do you have to crank and crank for it to fire up or does it start quickly ?

I checked the throttle plate an it shuts completely…I have cleaned the throttle body itself when I put the gasket in…when I look into the intake it has oil residue inside it….the truck does burn oil so I got a seal kit which includes the valve cover gaskets an valve seals…it does not have cats it has true duals on it..when I checked the plugs the other day they were perty dirty…and no, I dont have to turn it over an over before it cranks, it starts right up

I failed to menchin the seal kit I menchind has not been installed yet due to me not having a valve spring compressor…I have to go buy one

The oil in the bottom of the intake is coming from a blown lower plenum plate gasket. this is a very common prob with the rams. oil gets drawn into the intake and then into the cyls and gets burned to fix it you need to remove the intake flip it over and replace the plenum plate gasket. BUT – if you just do the gasket it will happen again since the plenum cover plate is thin metal and the intake is aluminum and they heat and cool at different rates causing the prob. go to hughesengines.com and get the plenum repair kit ( this is assuming the repair has not been already done , are you the orig owner ? you can test this by sticking a long mechanics magnet down into the intake if it sticks to the bottom it is steel and oem ) if bad enough the blown gasket can cause vac leak. don’t remember if you mentioned it but how long has the truck had this miis problem ?

I am the 3rd owner of this truck so im not sure if any of the gaskets have been replaced other than the t-body gasket I installed…I have had the truck for 3 years an the problem started about a year after I got it…do you think that would be causeing it to run lean an suck all the air it does…cause im honestly at a loss…im tryn to avoid takin it to a shop an spending an arm an a leg lol

                            NO!

That is a nylon fuel line, cutting it will require a whole new fuel rail

Here is where your test port is.
