Hello all first post hoping for help. I have done tune-up, replaced a/c comp. n drier, replaced fuel pump n filter, n gas cap then got codes P0201 injector circuit open Cyl. 1 using sea foam to hopefully fix that and P0455 major leak in purge sys. and now after many times having it stall before fuel part replacements was dieing randomely but would start back up now it dies after 5-10 minutes running and has no spark and when started previous times some the dash lights n guages wouldn’t work. So now I just run it in carport till it dies then check for spark with a plug n get no fire but it will restart after sitting for a while. I have checked lines don’t know how to test cannister thinkin bout smoke test or dash motherboard bad solder joints but basically lost trying to fix 75 yr pld mothers van TYVM for any and all help r hints r…. n GOD bless!

The injector code is a circuit code meaning electrical portion. Sea foam or any kind of cleaner will not fix this. You have an open in the circuit. a wire, the computer or the injector itself. As for the no start or dies. the coil needs a 12v feed and a trigger signal. When it wont start you need to check and see if you have 12V supply to the coil and see if you have a pulsed signal on the control wire. If not you could have an input problem to the computer like a bad cam or crank signal. Do you have any other codes to help point you in a direction.

Hey armed I haven’t been able to get back to auto zone to test it again so no new codes. I don’t have a reader and am working in a carport so limited on testing tools. That sux about the injector as it’s in a bad spot cyl. 1 didn’t want to hafta remove the plenum but guess will have to right? as for the coil will get a tester for it. It’s just weird that it runs fine then just dies and used to start back up but now takes a while but will start right up. The local mech she used to take it to was screwing her over so I decided to learn n do it myself saving her thousands. Now I’m stuck and lost so what would u suggest I do first? No hurries as we might be blown away after the hurricane hits as I’m bout mid state FL at 470 n 75 n supposed to get up to 130 mph winds so no rush yet but could use some prayers! TY soooo much for helping me out as I’m better with the older rides n rods too much shit to go bad or check on these new turds thanks again and GOD bless might be on tomorrow but no promises after we get hit Fri. morning but will b back as soon as possible

Hope yall stay safe down there. My first guess based on the symptoms you describe would be a camshaft or crankshaft issue or a bad coil. Unfortunately without you having much resources in the way of testing equipment it might be hard to properly diagnose the issue. I wouldn’t think that one injector could keep the whole engine from starting seeing how it is just an open circuit. I wouldn’t worry about that right now. I would concentrate on the stalling issue first. So I go back to it probably is a crank or cam sensor issue or the coil itself when it heats up.

Hey tyvm for response yes I survived the storm but then the flu tried to kill me lol. Gonna get a voltage tester n do some testing. Would the P0455 be keepin it from running too?

Hello, well I have to go to another town for my parts so I was going for a digital multimeter n the parts store was right there so I got a coil too and put it on and it started right up but ran another 30 mins r so n died again with no spark n totally pissed me the f*** off so I found out the cam sensor is in the distributor and gotta find the crank sensor n figure out how to test those with my Chilton’s and utube vids and anything else u think could be the problem. I’ve seen alot of vids about the solder on the dash motherboard and the guages do go out randomely and the backup lights work randomely too and I have traced all those lines n fuses n bulbs n connections but all looked good but …so please give me any other thoughts u have or I guess I’ll have to take it to a dealership registered mech. but still hoping I can figure it out so tyvm for anymore ideas and GOD bless
