I was trying to replace the pads. Tried to push back the calipers piston with auto zone borrowed tools. 1st the tool kit disc adapter slips out of the two out of 4-notches in the piston while turning the tool. 2nd with the tool some how in position the piston does not move with the rotation of tool. Opened up the bleeder valve and tried again to compress the piston. The piston is again rock solid.
Examined the bleeder valve-It was clean, bone dry, and the hole was also clean and dry. Questions:
1) should I buy a new calipers?
2) what additional tests should I do before the whole calipers is condemned?
3) If this is indeed a defective calipers, can it be serviced for safe operation and HOW?
4) if this has to be replaced by a new one, the other wheel calipers need not be replaced- right?
5) Has Eric tackled this problem before? If so where?
thank you very much
