      97 civic d16y8.
Pre: Replaced radiator cap then the Radiator cracked. Replaced radiator then two hoses blew. One hose was directly under distributor. Replace hoses. Car started fine let idle for about 45 min to check for leaks ect no problem.

Next morning car started fine. Drove down the road about 1 tenth of a mile car started bogging down then finally died with a small backfire in intake.

Present: Coil had small white cracks and No spark. Replaced coil. Now good spark.

Problem: Car will start randomly if at all. Very hard to start. Somtimes as soon as the key turns over it will start. Other times you have to keep cranking it and it might start might not……mostly not. I did notice if the starter is advanced fully it would seem the car started easier sometimes. I checked cam timing all marks line up perfectly. Switched ICM with known good one….no change.

When car is runing regardless of distributor advancement or not engine will bog down and die if more then 10% throttle pressed. Will idle for hours smooth with no issues or cell lights until you aply more the about 10% throttle. You can bring the rpms to redline with no issue but throttle problem persists regardless of rpm. After car dies due to throttle being pressed further car resumes the hard start issue.

Fuel pump is fine obviously. Main relay joints check out fine. I replaced fuel regulator. Due to splugs being wet.

Im completely stumped with this one. I have worked on many hondas and have not seen this issue. Please help! Thanks.

Also I have unplugged the TPS and reset the ECU to rule out a possible TPS issue. Car ran the same regardless if TPS is plugged in or not just get a cell for TPS.

I would do a compression test because some of the things you said might be like a valve issue or something in the head… I would also do a strobe light test…. to make sure your timing is not off and your timeing belt is not loose or have slack in it… causing your timing to sway… even if you checked the marks it would be bad belt… those are 2 easy test to do…
also put some di-electric greese on the spark plugs ends both on the ends of the wires
when you take the pluggs out spark pluggs check to see if there was any antifreeze on top of it… you might of had antifreeze on top of the plugs sorting it out causing a misfire
you can also check fuel pressure and flow rate might be off but not as likely but you can test that easy just incause you dont find anything est that give you info
