Eric, sorry about the lack of info. Your videos are great and I appreciate them. I was trying to get the question in on the live show and I was flustered as I had to sign-up etc.
I am rebuilding basically everything on it. I have a friend who is will to work for trade and am deep into it. I have been very neglectful. To tell the truth I expected to junk it and was filling fluids as they ran down. Terrible I know.
220,000 miles and I got it at 126,000 4 years ago and has always shifted hard.
Trans fluid is old and I am afraid to change it as the bad fluid might be why it works at all.
Because of the gift of basically a free mechanic, I am buying everything I need (seems never ending)
I first asked a Honda dealer mechanic when I got it about the trans, as soon as I said hard shift he said they all (’97) do and it was not worth the investment. I have since read that he was right. Nobody says what the problem is. I was thinking about buying a junked trans and rebuilding it for fun as a replacement if I need it (yea, crazy that way but I love to learn new things). But if this one is fixed with linear solenoid replacement or other relatively simple fix, I’ll try that route.
Side note: is this guy right?
