Eric,
I have a 97 Accord that has a slight power steering pump leak. I noticed the trace of oil on the underside of the hood.
Any chance that you can put together a video on how to replace the seals on one of these pumps?Seems like a common problem on Hondas that many can benefit from.

The problem is mostly due to over tightening of the belt. In addition sometimes a grove is worn on the drive shaft which would require it’s replacement. If that was the case the cost of the parts could exceed the price of a replacement pump.
Rebuilding power steering pumps is not something I often do, in fact I never do it. If I run into a problem I usually replace them and if I need to save $ I use a salvage part.
Thank you for your request but to be honest it’s not likely I’ll make that video. I may make one of the dissection of a pump at some point but not for rebuilding.
Yes. Honda makes a special fluid for their power steering systems that must be used or problems may result.
