97 grand cherokee 4.0

97 grand cherokee stalls randomly doesn’t matter if i’m at a light? or doing 60+, then starts up 5 to 10 minutes later. starts right up in the morning. any idea’s. fuel pump , crankshaft position sensor etc…thanks

This same problem happened with a co-worker, in that a clogged muffler(read, exhaust restriction) was leading to starting issues, especially after driving for a while and then trying to restart, IIRC. Finally, it blew up. The guy said ‘muffler’ but IDK…told me it blew up on him.

It didn’t seem to cause stalling problems, however. Similar problem, different symptom, perhaps?

You can also use a vacuum gauge to see if you have a restriction in the exhaust system.
