start with checking all fuses and fusible links. battery good. terminals clean and tight.
heres a video to help youhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBUYs539 … plpp_video
May 18, 2012 at 11:00 am #441706the battery is good all fuses are good… i found 3 fusible links and i think there good i dont see nothing wrong. terminals are clean and tight. i will try the ecm plug tomorrow and see what happens
May 18, 2012 at 11:00 am #441707You might also check the connections at the battery itself, if there is a lot of corrosion there it won’t allow current to flow to the rest of the system when under load.
May 18, 2012 at 11:00 am #441704i had a ford taurus and escort that both would crank but no start…no spark, power to fuel pump…i tried everything,,,,i kept the key on and wiggled the ecm wire connector,,,the fuel pump came on,,,,this also worked on my escort…turn key on and push on the connector…ive also seen this on other fords…..
May 19, 2012 at 11:00 am #441708i looked at the battery cables to day and i seen that there was electrical tapeon it close to the bottom of the engine so i took the Negative cable off and then took all the tape off and seen that someone spit in a red cable to the Negative cable. im gonna get a new cable. do you think thing is most or all the problem with the trcuk.??

That’s a crappy repair but it wouldn’t necessarily not provide ground. Try the new cable and make sure the point where it mounts to the frame is clean with metal to metal contact.
May 19, 2012 at 11:00 am #441711that’s not my repair work.. what someone else did that. i would never do that. now i have to buy a new cable

No, I just meant that the repair the other person did looks bad but it might provide ground just fine. There is a lot of metal to metal contact where the two cables are connected.

May 23, 2012 at 11:00 am #441714W-| well i got two new battery cables and still wont start. so i borrowed my friends power probe 3 and i have 12.6 v on the battery then i checked all the fuses and the fuses for the GEM module / CTM module, PCM is only getting ground with key on. we have power to the fuses box under the hood. and in only getting ground to the starter relay fuese. when clues what it could be?
May 23, 2012 at 11:00 am #441715heres a link for a wiring diagram. A factory service manual would help here
May 23, 2012 at 11:00 am #441716Is this a crank no start or a no crank no start?
May 23, 2012 at 11:00 am #441717its a crank no start but im not getting no power to the fuses for the GEM module / CTM module, PCM
May 23, 2012 at 11:00 am #441718Dare I say ECM/PCM. My scan tool was saying cannot link on a 97 GMC with known lightning surge while sitting outside of garage. The fix was ECM Napa $116 (internet price) flash for $40. links now and works fine. The think that was throwing me was it ran for a few then cut out. and brake lights didn’t work until replacing EMC.
For you,
1. Error trying to link to computer,
2. No power to F/Pump. Relay changed. Fuses checked. (Does computer control relay to F/P?)
I don’t fully understand that system, wonder if you could run a hot wire to the F/P?But the coil doesn’t have power… Does the Fuse box have the correct voltage running to it?
