when i bought this car it ran great and still does but a while back i noticed a heap of electrical tape wrapped around the vacuum line that leads from the pcv to the intake manifold (its the one by the fuel rail and it disappears under the intake manifold and heads to the pcv)..it didn’t have any effect on how the car ran so i left it alone…recently the IACV went bad and i replaced it and i still had a bit of a raise and then drop in idle and i heard a whistling and it was coming from the heap of tape so i unwrapped it and immediately the car went from 2500 to 1500 rpms consistently and the tape uncovered a 2way splitter that kept that vacuum line together and and there was no vacuum line connecting to the other part of the splitter so it was just sucking in air from there…when i blocked the hole off with my finger it stopped idiling erratically and and idled at abut 500rpms so i temporarily just blocked that hole off and so far so good no MIL light just a low idle any ideas? my buddy has a a 97 dx but he doesn’t have that splitter type thing…i bought my car from the original owner bone stock…it was an older guy so i know the motor wasn’t messed with… d16y5 btw

That pcv system is critical, you need to fashion some kind of hose on there or go to the dealer and get the correct service parts for that.

Also if you replace the pcv valve only use a dealer valve as I’ve seen aftermarket pcv cause idle issues and MIL lights.

When you restore the vacuum lines it should restore the idle.

          +1 from Jacob.

All the aftermarket PCV ‘s ive used always had issues on my vehicles. Im a big advocate of getting parts from the dealer.

pretty sure the PCV valve is good…no check engine light but yes everytime i replace something I be sure to use OEM Honda …more expoensive but worth it in the long run…but i really don’t know what else 2 say to describe this splitter maybe i should post a video so you can better understand,…still waiting on input from the Honda guru

+2 for Jacob as I have also seen those same issues with aftermarket PCV valves. Bottom line you need the PCV as it is a critical system, replace the hose or whatever parts you need in order to renew the system and your idle issues should go away.
