About two years ago I converted my 1997 2-Door Chevy Blazer over from the sealed beam headlights and grille style to the 4-door halogen style in hope to get brighter head lights. It made a slight difference but, nothing super noticeable. I recently installed a set up the Sylvania Silver Star’s Ultra 9006 Low-beam lights and I noticed a little more improvement but still nothing like newer cars brightness.

Does anyone think that upgrading my headlight assemblies to an aftermarket set like on eBay and Amazon that have the clear lenses instead of the used factory ones I installed make a difference for improving my brightness and visibility?

My current headlights don’t have any oxidation on them. I’m running out of ideas. I attached a picture of the ones I am considering on Amazon. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks.

HID’s if you have a projector style headlight now. Saying IF because I am not certain if all halogen lights are projector or not.
I mean you can install HID’s in a stock reflector housing for more light, just don’t aim it up and get the anti-glare ones.
Projector style gives the “like new car” headlight feel.
Eric even has a video where he put HID’s into his Element:

making sure the headlights are nice and clean first will help, as far as making your headlights brighter, and be careful with HIDs.

Agreed, however he stated the headlights have no oxidation, have you ever tried one of those projector retrofits? Any tips on HID installation? I myself never deviate from stock OEM headlights.

I’ve installed a set of HID head lights in my halogen housings.
The one thing to make sure of is that they are properly aimed to prevent glare to on coming drivers.
I recommend the proper color temp also 5000 – 6000K

So you guys don’t think that the new lenses would help? The reflection chrome inside the light housing’s look doll and the lenses them selves aren’t as clear as the ones I see on eBay.

You could try polishing your lenses to see if that helps.
