Sorry for starting a new post. But my old post is not in a good order, so it looks chaotic.
When I bought my 97 RL, the ac compressor seems to be seized. if I turn it on, it make very wired noise.I have learned in last post how to check the condition of my bad compressor
Q1: Is R12 compressor from Acura Legend interchangeable with R134a compressor on my 97 RL? (I will keep all the AC lines on my RL and use RL’s dryer, etc…). Because I may find a cheap, surplus, brand new denso ac compressor for Acura
legend.I am thinking to get a quality Denso R12 compressor instead of a new no-name junk compressor.Q2: Do other models of Acura or Honda use the same compressor as my 97RL? for example, integra, TL, Accrod… those are easy to find and cheaper.
Q3: Is it worthwhile to buy a new denso ac compressor for my RL(about $300 on amazon, exactly same model number as stock compressor).
Q4:
“You dont need to flush the system. Once the system is recovered, remove both lines from the compressor and swap with a q tip. If there is black, metal debris in the suction line then the whole system is contaminated and will need to be flushed really well or replaced entirely.
Your car has 2 expansion valves. One on the high side hose going to the evaporator and one at the evaporator in the dash. Those evaporators are relatively easy to remove. You need to remove the blower unit then the evaporator will be right in your face. The only way to know if that needs to be replaced will be by checking the pressures once the compressor is replaced.”
If the expansion valves are proofed to be bad after replacing AC compressor, will metal shavings in the expansion valves damage my new AC compressor again. Also, if I need to replace expansion valves, I have to open the AC system again, then I have to replace another dryer-receiver, right?
The expansion valve is $50 each. Is that worthwhile to just replace two expension valve?
