I’m planning to replace the valve cover gasket & O-rings due to oil in the spark plug galleys. I’m guessing the timing belt has never been changed but wasn’t quite ready to do that job to. Will I have to replace the brand new valve cover gasket again when I do the timing belt?

the only reason why you should have too replace the rocker cover gasket again is if for some weird reason the timing belt cover is part of the sealed assembly for the rocker cover, in which i doubt this, usually its a simple plastic cover covering the timing belt.

If the valve cover gasket is new and not gooped up with RTV then you should be able to reuse it just fine.

I have a detailed VManual on that engine that you might find helpful.
