      Yes, It certainly is. GM’s of this vintage were known to have issues with the fuel gauge sending unit on the fuel pump…

        Yea, I can see how that would be distracting. I’m with ToyotaKarl on this one. I’d be checking the signal coming out of the sending unit in the tank. If it’s all over the place I would replace it. And since GM fuel pumps are known to go out, you might consider replacing that as well while you’re in there.

          For once there are 3 people in agreement. Looks like a sending unit issue and like Eric said I also would consider changing the fuel pump at the same time. But I would pay the few bucks extra for an OE replacement. I have had issues in the past with after market fuel pumps.
