I have a wonky drivers side tie rod end I need to replace. What size socket and wrenches do I need? I am just doing some preplanning and need to know what tools to bring home.

        22mm or 24mm wrench.

            I though it was a 21mm

Well….If it’s an outer tierod end that’s original and has the original size lock nut i believe you will need a 17mm socket and 21mm wrench. You will also need side cutters to remove the cotter pin as well as a hammer to knock it loose from the steering arm.

it would take 15 min per side. Remove wheel. Remove pin. Brake open 17 mm nut. Hit what it goes through. Brake open 21mm nut. Remember to you threads, write down the number if you have to. good luck.

I usually use a caliper to measure from the last thread to the back of the tie rod.
