Hello everyone, trying to figure out why it happens. Every once in a wile mainly when driving slowly like in school zones I will feel It down shift from 2nd to 1st real harshly. Other then that the transmission shifts perfectly smooth. The car has around 185k on it and has been serviced regularly with OEM fluids.
She has been taken care of real good as u can see in this pic, not bad for a 96 with 185k huh lol

do you have a check engine light on? if its shifting hard
and not slipping. try changing the fluid with OE fluid.
you could also disconnect the cooler lines and blow them out
with compressed air.this may help the problem. if not your clutches
are most likely worn.No CEL and fluid has been changed with OEM ATF not long ago. The trans shifts perfect, just sometimes when in slow traffic it will shift from 2nd to 1st gear real harshly.
What’s the fluid level like? You do need to make sure that you check it with the engine OFF NOT running. I see many problems like the one you mention because the transmission is overfilled. Well done on using OE fluid though. Outside of a fluid level issue you may be looking at an internal transmission problem. I don’t remember if a 96 is old enough to still use a vacuum modulator but if it does you need to make sure the vacuum lines are hooked up to it and not damaged. The vacuum modulator is located on top of the transmission near the distributor and has at least one vacuum line going to it.
