Hey everyone, I could use some help with this problem I’m having with my mustang. I just got it back from the shop (at the shop for more than 4 months) for a head gasket. I drove it back home. Everything fine no problems what so ever. 2 months of not driving it due to 2 flats. The car run… starts… and even idle fine. As soon as i put it into gear and press on the gas pedal the car hesitation almost cutting off. I’ve check wires, spark plugs and coil, exhaust o2. A friend of mine tells me it could be a vacuum leak. But my car isn’t misfiring or showing any codes. Right now I’m just looking for a check list to see what I am missing. And it also takes it awhile to reach operating temperature.

2 months…I’d probably suspect a bit of moisture in the gas if you note nothing else of significance. Cost you a bottle of “heet” to find out for certain. 😉
Four months to change a head gasket? I sure hope they weren’t working on time and materials. Since this problem took two months after the shop to develop, I’d read your warranty on the repair ticket and if it’s within that period, take it back to the shop, tell them to diagnose and fix the thing. If you do that, just tell them what it’s doing not what you did to diagnose it yourself and explain that it wasn’t doing it before you brought it in for the head gasket. (I assume it wasn’t).
It could be a lot of things, including bad gas, fuel pump, fuel filter, plug wire (an intermittent) among other things. Let us know what you find out.
